Description
The SCI Colorado chapter is working closely with a consortium of like minded conservation and agriculture organizations (Coloradans Protecting Wildlife) to help educate the public of Colorado on why the forced introduction of Canadian Timber Wolves into Colorado is a bad idea.
Some key reasons we strongly oppose this initiative:
- State experts will do a better job of managing wolves that a forced introduction via ballot box
- Wolves are already migrating to Colorado, including recent confirmation from CPW
- The Gray wolf that would be introduced is not native to Colorado (either Canadian or Mexican gray)
- This proposal is ballot box biology and is reckless to our some of our state’s leading economic drivers:
- Agriculture $20 billion
- Hunting and fishing $1.9 billion
- Wildlife watching $1.5 billion
- Broad base of resistance from the agricultural, hunting and outdoor communities. Also the broader business community, who see this issue as a poor use of tax dollars.(See list of groups and municipalities below)
- Focusing many advertising efforts on digital advertising – very targeted and effective in influencing voters.
